I have been basically stalking the Dezeen Milan Fair coverage all week. The TV Talk show format has been far more enlightening than image after image of interesting product in bad lighting conditions, so I thank Dezeen for its ever progressive way of sending out design ideas. I am kind of well, pissed that commentator after commentator has said the “news” of the fair is the process. Everyone from Tom Dixon to Ikea is exploring the process of making, fabricating ,hacking and the mash-up of the design tech culture. One, I have been talking about this forever as is everyone else who actually designs things….. And two, do these writers, curators, aficionados ever go to a design school and just look around? Its sort of criminal that the commercial world can make rigorous inquiry aka the only way you can design something into a current fad. And the only one that is pushing the boundry of the idea of making is Faye Toogood….
