Toshiko Horiuchi Macadam is one of Japan’s leading fiber artists. As an active fiber artist in the fine art world, she experienced a transformation when two children requested to ‘play’ in her fine art sculpture. This led her to create vibrantly colored interactive textile environments that provide thrilling play environments. Rainbow Net was crocheted by her hand in Hakone Open-Air Museum sculpture park in Sapporo Japan. A collaboration with Tezuka Architects and TIS & Partners opened in July of 2000 after three years of planning, testing, and building.
