I just spent the day reading the vibrant book by Bruce Watson, Freedom Summer about the Mississippi Voters registration movement in Mississippi in the summer 1964. In my lifetime, the world has changed, not perfect but definately forward.  This Herbert Randell image of Hattiesburg activist, Gracie Hawthorne is so beautiful, so powerful. I am most taken with the idea that the young volunteers that built Freedom Schools and organized voter registation were my students age……
